The 2025 SIA junior and senior workshop was held in Stockholm at Ulfsunda slott on September 11 to 12. Researchers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland participated. During the workshop, current Nordic research on aging and health was discussed based on 13 ongoing doctoral projects (see the workshop program below for a list of manuscript titles). With the support of the network’s senior researchers, the more junior members were able to practice highlighting issues of social inequality in their own studies and those of their colleagues.

The workshop was otherwise devoted to updating and deepening research collaboration on social inequalities in aging between the Nordic countries. Among other things, group work was carried out to identify current trends and blind spots in the Nordic public debate on social inequalities, ideas were developed for joint symposia at upcoming international conferences, and a panel discussion was held where seniors discussed opportunities and challenges from a career perspective. Louise Scheel Thomasen also participated by presenting The Nordic Welfare Center’s work in supporting Nordic cooperation on public health issues.
